Care Kit Pre – Assembly

Group size: 5 or more
Time:  Roughly 3 hours
Age Range: 10 and older

Helping Hands of Dayton holds two events each year where we assemble roughly 720 Care Kits supporting families with a child in critical care. We couldn’t provide this level of support without help from caring people in our community like you willing to assist families during their time of need.

Volunteer groups who support Pre-assembly package all of the printed materials included in our Care Kits.  These items include Neumors parent education literature, a hospital cafeteria gift card, a Helping Hands brochure, a checklist of Care Kit items and either artwork or a hand made get well card donated by local schoolchildren.

In addition to preparing the kits, volunteer groups count and label the prepared bags for each hospital, further helping to ensure a smooth and efficient Care Kit assembly.

One of the best features of pre assembly is that we can bring the project to you.  Pre-assembly can be accomplished at any location with enough table space to host your group’s volunteers. For more information, please contact us at: info@helpinghandsdayton.com.Our volunteer coordinator will work with you to set up a time and location for the assembly in addition to answering any a questions you have.

Care Kit Assembly

Group size: 8 or more
Time:  Roughly 3 hours
Age Range: 10 and older

Assembly volunteer groups complete the kit assembly by including the remaining products such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, pen & paper, tissues, deodorant, shampoo & conditioner and hand lotion. They also perform a quality control check to ensure each kit contains the all the items on our checklist prior to delivery.

Since our program’s inception we have been very fortunate to have service organizations, companies, church groups and other non-profits help with our assemblies each year. These groups provide the manpower needed to assemble several hundred Care Kits in just a few hours.  They also help us through fundraising and product drives for items in our Care Kits.  This network of support provides a foundation for our program’s continued success.

Volunteer groups are given a document outlining their support, assembly procedures and an anticipated timeline of events. One of the best features of pre assembly is that we can bring the project to you.  Assembly can be hosted at a location near you.  For more information, please contact us at: info@helpinghandsdayton.com. Our volunteer coordinator will work with you to set up a time and location for the assembly in addition to answering any a questions you have.

Care Kit Artwork

Group size: 1 to 100
Age Range: 5 and older

One of the least expensive but most valuable items in the Helping Hands Care Kit is hand made get well cards or artwork.  We are continually seeking artwork donations made by local schoolchildren.  These donations bring a welcome smile and sense of normalcy to an extremely stressful situation.

Helping Hands of Dayton holds two events each year where we assemble roughly 720 so no donation of artwork is too large or too small. Care Kits are roughly 6” by 8”. We kindly ask that the artwork be no larger than an 8.5×11 sheet of paper so that when folded in half it can neatly fit within a Care Kit.  We also ask that the artwork be non-denominational.

For more information, please contact us at: info@helpinghandsdayton.com. Our volunteer coordinator will work with you on shipping the artwork to us or picking it up from you and will answer any a questions you have.
